METHODOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE

Methodology and Philosophy of Science

Materials on scientific method, the foundations of physics, research classification and the distinction between physical and merely formal models.

CURRENT METHODOLOGICAL WORK

Multidimensional classification of research

The methodological notes separate characteristics of a research process rather than reducing evaluation to a single label. Several binary axes can be considered independently.

Independent ↔ dependent

Whether the research agenda and evaluation are controlled by the investigator or primarily by external institutional dependence.

Good-faith ↔ bad-faith

Whether arguments, evidence and uncertainty are handled honestly and consistently.

Real ↔ imitative

Whether the activity is directed toward solving a physical or scientific problem or mainly reproduces the appearance of research.

Scientific ↔ pseudoscientific

Whether claims remain tied to testable physical content, logical consistency and the standards of the relevant science.

Systematic ↔ fragmentary

Whether the work develops a connected framework or consists mainly of isolated results without a coherent structure.

Individual ↔ collective

An organizational axis describing how responsibility, initiative and authorship are distributed; it does not by itself determine scientific quality.
